Classic 2009 will not soon be forgotten. Starting with one of the best banquets we have ever had and ending with an almost miraculous break in the stormy, cold weather.
The rules were simple. Each partner could bring up to five fish to the scales. Weigh them in together. Total boat weight wins. Simple right.......... Maybe.
Predictions had the winning weight low. Somewhere around 10 to 12 pounds. One thing we know about the winners, they are hardly predictable. The Hydrilla Gnats own 800 pound gorilla and the sneaky Kentucky Wildcat, Angelo Koundourakis and Joe Cleary claimed there first classic titles. Anchoring their 22.40 total weight was a 7.64lb big fish.
The pair focused on main lake areas near the convergience of the Chatthoochee River and Spring Creek. They thoroughly covered a small area of shoreline with rattling RC1.5's and rattle traps in 3 to 4 feet of water. Finding the clearest areas seemed to be the key.
When asked about the trophy. Both agreed that it would be shared between the two. Six months at andy's, then six months at Joe's.
Congratulations on the win.
